A cryogenic tank rarely runs empty at a convenient moment. More often it happens on a Friday evening or during holidays, when a refill can no longer be ordered. That is why a notification should arrive not when the product is low, but while there is still enough of it to cover the delivery time.
Where notifications arrive
TelemetryX sends notifications to the iOS app and to the Telegram bot. The app is currently in beta, and access is granted on request. The full history and threshold settings are in the web account.
A threshold in percent and a threshold in time
A 10 % threshold sounds the same for a small cryogenic cylinder and a large vaporiser tank, but it means different things. On one tank 10 % is a week of work, on another it is half a day. It is more accurate to start from consumption: how many days the product will last and how many days a refill takes.
How to choose a threshold
- look up the average daily consumption for the last month in the history;
- ask your supplier how many days in advance a refill should be ordered;
- add a reserve for weekends and holidays;
- convert that number of days into a level and set the threshold slightly higher.
A good threshold is one that leaves you time to order a refill calmly.
What else is worth enabling
Besides low level, it is useful to get notifications about refills, so you can see that the delivery actually happened, and about low module charge, so the battery is charged in time.
